Infested Cobblestone is a special block in Minecraft that looks identical to regular cobblestone, but spawns a silverfish when broken. In older versions of Java Edition, it was called a 'cobblestone monster egg,' and in earlier console editions like PS3, Xbox 360, and WiiU, it was known as 'silverfish cobblestone.' This block cannot be crafted and is only available in the Creative inventory. Players cannot obtain it directly in Survival mode. When broken, infested cobblestone has a chance to spawn a silverfish, which will attack the player. If the player attacks the silverfish, nearby infested blocks will also start spawning more silverfish. When broken with a tool enchanted with Silk Touch, infested cobblestone will drop regular cobblestone instead of spawning a silverfish. Besides cobblestone, there are other types of infested blocks, such as infested stone and infested stone bricks. These infested blocks can often be found in strongholds, igloo basements, and woodland mansions, or as ore veins in certain biomes. Infested blocks can be identified by their sound. When a note block is placed on them, it will produce harp sounds in Java Edition, and flute sounds in Bedrock Edition.
