Tien Shinhan

Tien Shinhan (Japanese: 天津飯, Tenshinhan), often simply called Tien in the English dub, is a Human character introduced near the end of the Fortuneteller Baba Saga in the Dragon Ball anime. Due to his harsh upbringing, he is initially cold and heartless, thinking nothing of exploiting innocents and inflicting pain. However, Master Roshi and Goku eventually help him to see the folly of his master's teachings, and he becomes a trusted ally. He later fights as a Z Fighter, but retires from fighting after he can no longer compete with the power of the Super Saiyans. Tien is a descendant of the Three-Eyed clan, which gives him several non-human traits, such as a third eye, the ability to grow extra arms from his back, and to split into four individuals. His most notable skills include ki-based techniques (like the Tri-Beam and Solar Flare) and special abilities that manipulate his body. Initially a student of the Crane School alongside Chiaotzu, Tien’s encounters with Master Roshi lead him to become an honorable martial artist. He is also a very serious and focused warrior, while being introverted and valuing the bonds he has with his friends, especially his friendship with Chiaotzu.
