Norg

NORG is a non-player character in Final Fantasy VIII. He is the proprietor of Balamb Garden, responsible for managing its finances. NORG is a Shumi, but unlike his humble and kind-natured brethren, he is vain, greedy, and cowardly. He left Shumi Village in pursuit of wealth. After meeting Cid Kramer, NORG invested in the establishment of Balamb Garden, and hired out its trained SeeD as mercenaries for profit. Despite contributing to the Garden's prosperity, he was only concerned with his own wealth accumulation, gradually creating a rift with Cid. When Sorceress Edea appeared, NORG tried to hand over the SeeD who attacked her in an attempt to protect his investment, causing a split within the Garden. Eventually, NORG was defeated in a battle against the SeeD and retreated into a cocoon-like form, never to be seen again. In the game, NORG is also a boss battle opponent, and players can draw the Guardian Force Leviathan from him.
