Esuna

In Final Fantasy VIII, Esuna (エスナ) is a restore magic spell used to remove negative status effects from characters. It can remove all detrimental statuses except for "Doom," and can be junctioned to character stats to boost attributes or provide status resistance. While Esuna is effective for removing status ailments, the game's "Treatment" ability is more potent because it removes all negative effects, including Doom, and can be used even if the character is silenced. Esuna can be obtained by drawing it from enemies or refining it from items. It serves as a supplementary magic, having some strategic value in battle, but it is more often used as a way to defend against status effects. In Final Fantasy VIII's combat, Esuna's compatibility with certain Guardian Forces is affected. Nonetheless, it remains a common and useful spell in the game.
