Rugal Bernstein (ルガール・バーンシュタイン) is a recurring antagonist in SNK's fighting game series, The King of Fighters. First introduced in The King of Fighters '94, he is known for his immense power and ruthless personality, often considered one of the most difficult bosses in the series. Rugal is a wealthy arms dealer and drug trafficker who organizes the King of Fighters tournaments to find worthy opponents, turning those he defeats into stone statues for his collection. Despite his death in '95, he continues to appear in various forms in subsequent "Dream Match" titles. His signature moves include the "Genocide Cutter" and "Kaiser Wave", and he displays even greater power in his enhanced form, "Omega Rugal." Rugal is a villain known for his cruelty and arrogance, viewing himself as superior to humans, and frequently self-destructs after defeat in an attempt to take his enemies with him.
