Mai

In the Touhou Project series, there are multiple characters named "Mai". Among them, the two most prominent are: One is Mai (マイ), a witch from Makai, who appears in the PC-98 game Mystic Square, typically alongside Yuki, serving as the fourth stage boss. She is quieter but believes herself to be stronger, and even calls Yuki a deadweight if defeated first. The other is Mai Teireida (丁礼田 舞), who appears in the Windows game Hidden Star in Four Seasons, a servant of Okina Matara, and acts alongside her partner Satono Nishida. Mai Teireida has the ability to draw out vitality from others through dance. Although she was once a human child, she is losing her humanity due to Okina's power and serves Okina, unaware she is being sought as a replacement. There is also a “Mai” character in the Seihou Project series. Therefore, when discussing "Mai" in the context of the Touhou Project, it's necessary to distinguish which specific character is being referenced.
