Little Devil / Koakuma

Koakuma (小悪魔, こあくま), meaning "Little Devil" or "Imp", is a character from the Touhou Project series, first appearing as the Stage 4 midboss in Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. She resides in the Scarlet Devil Mansion and is believed to be an assistant to Patchouli Knowledge, the librarian. Despite being referred to as a "little devil," her specific race is devil, although her background is not detailed in the game, and she has no dialogue. Fans speculate, based on her frequent appearances in the library and her role as the midboss of Patchouli's stage, that she serves as Patchouli's assistant or familiar. Koakuma lacks an official name; the name "Koakuma" was given by fans and was later used by ZUN (the creator of Touhou Project) in communication with players, therefore considered to be a semi-official name. She is characterized by her long red hair, devil wings on her head, and a black dress. Despite being a midboss without detailed background information, Koakuma has garnered considerable popularity among fans due to her unique design and enigmatic presence. In fan works, she is often depicted as Patchouli's assistant, or even as an alluring demon. In short, Koakuma is a mysterious yet beloved character in the Touhou Project universe.
