Satsuki Rin

Satsuki Rin, also known as 冴月麟, is a scrapped character from the Touhou Project game, Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. She was intended to be the third playable character but was cut due to time constraints during development. Although she didn't make it into the final game, traces of her exist within the game data. Her name, “冴月 麟” (or the hex code “8D E1 8C 8E 20 97 D9”), can be found in the “東方紅魔郷.exe” executable file, near the code lines of Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame. Her planned spell cards were “Flower Sign” and “Wind Sign”. Very little is known about Satsuki Rin officially, with much of the information coming from fan speculation and fan works. Some believe the mysterious girl in Team Shanghai Alice's circle cut at Comiket C62, when Embodiment of Scarlet Devil was released, is Rin Satsuki, though it has been clarified by the creator that this character is not related to the game. Based on Marisa Kirisame's remarks in the Extra Stage, she is theorized to be a nurse. Her name “Rin” suggests a connection to the mythical Kirin. While her official appearance and settings remain unknown, fan interpretations often depict her as a girl with a large ribbon, a mid-length dress, and holding an erhu. Because there's no official info, descriptions of her appearance, personality and abilities are based on fan theories and interpretations.
