Konpaku Youki

Konpaku Youki is an enigmatic character from the Touhou Project series who has yet to make an actual appearance in any game. He was the first gardener for the Saigyouji clan at Hakugyokurou for about 300 years before leaving his position to his successor and student, Youmu Konpaku, and going into seclusion. Youki himself is a half-human half-phantom, and his current whereabouts are unknown. He is described as stubborn, prideful, and intimidating. When teaching swordsmanship, he preferred to be concise and speak in a thundering voice. It is known that he was one of the few people aware of Yuyuko Saigyouji's connection to the Saigyou Ayakashi. Youki's disappearance is also seen as a unique form of instruction by Youmu. His name, “Youki,” consists of “You” (abnormal, supernatural) and “Ki” (inauspicious, mourning). “Konpaku” simply means soul, with “Kon” referring to the mental soul, and “Paku” to the physical soul. This is believed to be a characteristic of the Konpaku clan.
