Kaenbyou Rin

Rin Kaenbyou, also known as "Orin," is a character from the Touhou Project series, first appearing in Touhou Subterranean Animism. She is one of Satori Komeiji's pets, responsible for transporting corpses to the former Hell of Blazing Fires to regulate its temperature. Rin's race is a kasha, a type of youkai in Japanese folklore that carries the bodies of sinners. She has the ability to control vengeful spirits and communicate with the dead. While her job is to transport corpses, she is not a bloodthirsty youkai, preferring to obtain corpses from those near death, as she finds conversation with the recently deceased more interesting. She has no interest in properly buried corpses. Orin has a cheerful and energetic personality, dislikes her full name, and has everyone call her Orin. In Touhou Subterranean Animism, Orin initiated the incident by sending vengeful spirits to the surface, worried about her friend Utsuho Reiuji's uncontrolled power. She challenges the protagonists, hoping they can stop Utsuho. She appears multiple times as a mid-boss and as the boss of stage 5. Beyond the games, she frequently appears in fan creations, her lively personality and unique abilities making her a beloved character.
