Minamitsu Murasa, also known as Captain Murasa, is a character from the Touhou Project series, first appearing in Touhou Seirensen (Undefined Fantastic Object). She is a ship phantom, formerly a drowned young girl, who became a youkai due to her attachment to the ocean, possessing the ability to cause water-related accidents. Before encountering Byakuren Hijiri, she enjoyed sinking passing ships and even sought to increase her youkai power and escape the ocean's bindings by sinking the famous monk Byakuren. However, after easily sinking Byakuren's ship, she was moved by Byakuren and accepted her invitation to become the captain of the Palanquin Ship. She has a cheerful personality but also a fearsome side as a phantom. Murasa's weapons include anchors and a bottomless ladle, and her abilities are not limited to causing accidents at sea but also include causing danger in any place with water, such as hot springs and riverbanks. Currently, she is a member of the Myouren Temple, working alongside the other members to repay her debt to Byakuren. Her name "Murasa" originates from a ship phantom legend in the Oki District of Shimane Prefecture, and "Minamitsu" is related to "water honey peach," connecting to her ghost identity and abilities. Murasa Minamitsu is a complex and interesting character, combining a ghostly fearfulness with a deep loyalty to her friends.
