Kasodani Kyouko

Kyouko Kasodani is a character in the Touhou Project series, first appearing as the stage 2 boss in Touhou Ten Desires. She is a yamabiko youkai, embodying mountain echoes, with the ability to reflect sound waves. Due to the rising popularity of the superstition that "yamabiko are just sound reflections," she felt the emptiness of the secular world and joined the Myouren Temple, becoming a priest in training. Her daily duties include cleaning the temple grounds and reciting Buddhist sutras. Although she appears quiet and docile, she often mutters sutras to herself, despite not fully understanding their meaning. Kyouko formed a punk rock band called 'Choujuu Gigaku' with Mystia Lorelei as an outlet for her boredom with her monastic life. Her ability is highly compatible with reciting sutras, but can also be used offensively to reflect danmaku with reflective barriers. Her name 'Kyouko Kasodani' also relates to 'Yamabiko (幽谷響)', an alternative reading of her species. She is generally cheerful and energetic, though sometimes timid.
