She is a komainu youkai who guards religious places, especially those where human faith gathers, such as the Hakurei Shrine, Moriya Shrine, and Myouren Temple. Aunn has a kind and simple personality, with no ill-intent. She simply does her duty of guarding places she considers sacred, even if it often leads to her defeat. She possesses the ability to locate Shinto and Buddhist places and seems to have an instinct for evil, as seen in the *Hidden Star in Four Seasons* incident where she senses ill intent behind Cirno's power. Aunn sometimes appears with two bodies, reflecting the traditional pairing of komainu statues. In *Touhou Beastly Petalstorm*, she joins the rush to claim land and encounters other characters along the way. Aunn has a unique design, with long light green hair, horns, and a red short-sleeved shirt with cloud patterns and white shorts. Originally, she was a komainu statue in front of the Hakurei Shrine, but she gained sentience due to Okina Matara's power. Despite her dedication, she is not particularly strong and often loses battles. Aunn is a beloved character in the *Touhou Project* fandom for her unique traits and kind nature.
