In the Touhou Project, The Fortune-teller is a minor character who first appeared in chapter 24 of the manga *Forbidden Scrollery*. He was originally a fortune-teller in the Human Village, ostracized for incorporating magic into his divination techniques. Dissatisfied with humans being at the mercy of youkai, he attempted to transform into a youkai by committing suicide. However, he ended up becoming a unique being called a 'jinyou', existing between human and youkai. The Fortune-teller harbored resentment towards humans, believing they should be ruled by youkai, which led to conflict with Reimu Hakurei. In his living form, he had a long nose, black swept-back hair, and was sometimes seen wearing glasses and a cloak; as a jinyou, he exhibits a demonic, vampire-like form with pointed ears, claws, and fangs. Although described as deceased, his existence highlights the complex relationship between humans and youkai in the Touhou Project, as well as the extreme measures individuals might take when facing injustice.
