Blastoise (Japanese: カメックス, Kamex) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon series. It is the final evolution of Squirtle, evolving from Wartortle starting at level 36. Blastoise is characterized by its large, brown shell, which features two powerful water cannons capable of firing high-pressure jets of water. Its body is primarily blue with a cream-colored underbelly, thick limbs, and a short tail. Blastoise's design is inspired by turtles and tanks, with its back-mounted cannons resembling those of a mobile tank or battleship. Blastoise has appeared multiple times as an important character in the Pokémon games and is a representative Pokémon of the series. It has a Mega Evolution, Mega Blastoise, and a Gigantamax form, Gigantamax Blastoise. Its water cannons are capable of piercing steel and enable it to charge at high speed. In the anime, Blastoise often takes on a leadership role and prefers freshwater ponds and lakes as habitats.
