Pokemon

Pokémon, also known as Pocket Monsters in Japan (ポケットモンスター), is a media franchise owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. It encompasses video games, an animated series, a trading card game, and various other forms of media. Set in a world where humans coexist with creatures called "Pokémon," players take on the role of Pokémon Trainers, who capture, train, and battle these creatures with the goal of completing the Pokédex or becoming the ultimate Pokémon master. The franchise originated with the release of the Game Boy games Pokémon Red and Green in 1996 and has since become one of the most popular media franchises in the world. Known for its unique blend of collection, training, and battling, as well as its extensive cast of characters and lore, Pokémon has amassed a massive global fanbase and cultural impact. As of January 2024, 1,025 Pokémon species have been discovered, with more being added regularly.
