Riley

Riley (Japanese: ゲン, Gen) is a Pokémon Trainer from the Sinnoh region, specializing in Pokémon with high Attack stats. He first appears in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, where he can join the player in certain events. Later, he can be encountered at Sinnoh's Battle Tower. In Pokémon Platinum, he can be battled at the Battleground after completing the Stark Mountain subquest. Riley initially appears on Iron Island, helping the player navigate the mines and defeat Team Galactic Grunts. He then gifts the player a Pokémon Egg that hatches into a Riolu. Riley was once asked to become a Gym Leader, but declined, stating Roark should be considered first. In the anime, Riley is an Aura Guardian in-training studying Steel-type Pokémon on Iron Island with his Lucario. He assisted Ash and his friends against Team Galactic and demonstrated powerful aura abilities, including defensive shields. Riley also appears in the Pokémon Adventures manga, where he trains Diamond on Iron Island. He is also featured as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
