Kakuna (Japanese: コクーン, Hepburn: Kokuun) is a Bug/Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Weedle starting at level 7 and evolves into Beedrill starting at level 10. Kakuna resembles a yellow chrysalis. As a chrysalis, Kakuna's very hard shell obscures its interior, with no limbs or other features visible, except for its large, jet-black eyes. Kakuna is typically seen hanging from tree branches. It relies on hardening its shell for defense and can extend poison barbs when threatened. Internally, Kakuna undergoes intense preparations for evolution, causing its body temperature to rise and its shell to become hot to the touch. This process makes it nearly immobile, focusing on energy conservation until it evolves. Kakuna is a common early evolutionary form in the Pokémon world, featured across games, anime, and manga.
