Rattata (Japanese: コラッタ, Koratta) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is known for its small, quadrupedal rodent appearance. Rattata's most notable feature is its large incisors, which, like most rodents, grow continuously throughout its life and must be worn down by gnawing. It typically has purple fur on its back and a cream-colored underbelly. Notably, Rattata has a regional variant, the Alolan form, which is a Dark/Normal-type with dark gray fur and different habits. Alolan Rattata has adapted to avoid predators like Yungoos, becoming nocturnal and scavenging for food in urban areas, even sneaking into people's homes. Rattata evolves into Raticate starting at level 20, while Alolan Rattata evolves into Alolan Raticate when leveled up at night starting at level 20. Rattata is highly adaptable and can thrive in almost any environment, reproducing quickly, making it a common sight in many places. They are very alert and constantly move their ears to listen to their surroundings, even while asleep.
