Raticate, known in Japanese as ラッタ (Ratta), is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Rattata starting at level 20. Raticate is larger, typically tawny-colored with a cream underside, and although classified as a quadruped, it is often depicted standing on its hind legs. Its most prominent feature is its constantly growing incisors, which it must wear down by gnawing. Raticate has three whiskers on each side of its face for balance, and webbed feet that allow it to swim. In the Alola region, Raticate has a regional Dark/Normal-type form, which is primarily black with white markings on its face and typically commands Alolan Rattata to gather food while it remains in its nest. Raticate's teeth are strong enough to gnaw through steel and concrete. They are commonly found in plains and savannas. Prior to Generation IV, Raticate and its pre-evolution, Rattata, were the only Pokémon able to learn Hyper Fang and Super Fang.
