Golbat, known in Japanese as ゴルバット, is a dual-type Poison/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Zubat starting at level 22 and evolves into Crobat when leveled up with high friendship. Golbat is a large, blue, bat-like Pokémon with purple wing membranes and a massive mouth containing four sharp fangs, which are larger in males than in females. It is commonly found in dark caves and forests and is a hematophagous creature, feeding on the blood of both Pokémon and humans. Golbat uses its sharp fangs to pierce the skin of its prey and can consume up to 10 ounces (300 milliliters) of blood in one sitting. If it consumes too much blood, it may become too heavy to fly. It is particularly active at night and is known to share blood with other Golbat when food is scarce. Golbat has the abilities Inner Focus or Infiltrator, which prevent flinching or allow it to bypass certain protective moves. It has appeared multiple times in the anime and manga, most notably as Brock's Golbat, which eventually evolved into Crobat.
