Diglett (Japanese: ディグダ Diguda) is a Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is typically depicted as a small, brown Pokémon that appears to be perpetually buried underground, with only its head visible. Diglett is notable for its small stature, making it one of the lightest and shortest Ground-type Pokémon, and for its small black eyes and large, round, pink nose. It spends most of its time underground and has very thin skin. If exposed to sunlight, its blood will heat up, causing it to become weak. Diglett lives in underground tunnels and caves, feeding on tree roots and vegetables. It also inhabits burrows left by Onix. Diglett regularly digs through shallow soil, leaving tilled soil behind, so some farmers welcome them for tilling their fields and enriching the soil with their droppings. Diglett sleeps underground at night, and seeing one asleep above ground is considered good luck. In the Alola region, Diglett has a dual-type Ground/Steel regional form, with three gold whiskers on its head for sensing its surroundings and communicating emotions. Although Diglett resembles Wiglett from the Paldea region, they are separate species with different diets and habitats. Diglett evolves into Dugtrio starting at level 26.
