Growlithe (Japanese: ガーディ Gardie) is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It first appeared in the Pokémon Red and Green games. Growlithe is a quadrupedal canine Pokémon with bright orange fur, black stripes along its back and legs, and cream-colored fur on its belly, tail, and the tuft on its head. Known for its loyalty and courage, it fearlessly protects its Trainer and territory. It possesses a keen sense of smell, capable of identifying emotions and never forgetting scents. Growlithe has a long history with humans, evidenced by its bones found in Stone Age ruins. It evolves into Arcanine when exposed to a Fire Stone. Additionally, a regional form called Hisuian Growlithe, introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, has a Fire/Rock dual-type, with dark orange-red fur and a mane and tail made of igneous rock. Hisuian Growlithe is more vigilant and takes longer to bond with humans.
