Tentacool, known as Menokurage in Japanese, is a dual Water/Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It resembles a jellyfish, with a light blue, translucent body featuring two large red crystals on each side and one smaller one in the center. Tentacool's body is composed of 99% water, with the remaining 1% containing its poison-producing organ. It absorbs sunlight, which it refracts through its body's water to generate beam energy, which is emitted from the crystals on its head. Its tentacles are laced with stinging cells that can deliver a potent poison. Although its body is mostly water, Tentacool will shrivel upon dehydration if removed from the water, but remains dangerous. Tentacool’s tentacles can regenerate, and it drifts on ocean currents searching for food in shallow seas. It is often mistaken for being related to Toedscool, but they are distinct species. Tentacool evolves into Tentacruel at level 30. Tentacool is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime and manga, often shown floating in the sea and being somewhat dangerous.
