Seel (Japanese: パウワウ Pawou) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves into Dewgong starting at level 34. Seel has a horn on its head made of hardened bone, and a bluish-white fur-covered body. It possesses a tan muzzle, a small black nose, small tusks, round eyes, and a tongue often seen outside its mouth. Seel lives in frigid Arctic waters, surviving thanks to its thick blubber. Its tail resembles a spout of water. Seel is a graceful swimmer but clumsy on land. They use their horn and tusks to break through ice for breathing. They are primarily active at night and sleep on the seabed during the day. Seel lives in herds on ice floes, sometimes engaging in fights to hone their defense skills. Their diet consists of prey under the ice. Seel has appeared in various Pokémon media, such as in the Pokémon anime where Misty has owned multiple Seel.
