Electrode (Japanese: マルマイン, Marumine) is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Voltorb starting at level 30. Electrode is a round Pokémon that resembles an upside-down Poké Ball, with a white top half and a red lower half, along with eyes and a mouth. It is known for its highly volatile nature, as even the smallest stimulus can cause it to explode. Due to its resemblance to an item, many trainers attempt to pick it up, leading to potential danger. Electrode often inhabits power plants and other locations where electricity is abundant, feeding on the energy and sometimes causing blackouts. It also has a regional form found in the Hisui region, known as Hisuian Electrode, a dual Electric/Grass-type, which evolves from Hisuian Voltorb when exposed to a Leaf Stone. Hisuian Electrode also resembles an inverted Poké Ball with a wooden upper half and a dark red lower half, featuring a hole. Because of its tendency to explode, Electrode is also nicknamed the "Bomb Ball."
