Tangela (Japanese: モンジャラ, Monjara) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It is characterized by its body being completely covered in blue vines, with only its eyes and red feet visible. These vines are covered in fine hairs and constantly grow, regenerating quickly if damaged or lost. Tangela uses its vines to ensnare and entangle anything that moves nearby, often causing a tickling sensation. The vines are easily snapped off, allowing Tangela to escape. Its vines are also used as herbs in some regions. Tangela evolves into Tangrowth when leveled up while knowing the move Ancient Power. It is typically found in temperate grasslands but can also be seen in forests and jungles. In the anime and manga, Tangela has made several appearances, including being owned by Gym Leader Erika. It is a versatile Pokémon, used both offensively and defensively in battles, and is known for its resilience due to its regenerating vines and the option to use Eviolite pre-evolution.
