Scyther (Japanese: ストライク) is a dual-type Bug/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It resembles a praying mantis, with a green body, scythe-like forearms, and a pair of wings. Known for its incredible speed and sharp scythes, Scyther can effortlessly cut down trees. In games, it evolves into Scizor when traded holding a Metal Coat, or into Kleavor when exposed to a Black Augurite. Scyther is typically rare in the wild, preferring open grasslands and forests, and is known for its ninja-like agility. Scyther often appears as a powerful Pokémon in the anime, used by rivals or as main battling partners by various trainers.
