Pinsir, known in Japanese as Kailios, is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It first appeared in the Pokémon Red and Blue games. Pinsir does not evolve, but it can Mega Evolve into Mega Pinsir using the Pinsirite. Pinsir is a bipedal, insectoid Pokémon with a brown body and a large pair of white pincers with spikes on its head. It has short, thick legs and long, thin arms, with three claws on each hand and foot. Pinsir's mouth contains many long, flat teeth arranged horizontally. Pinsir’s pincers are incredibly strong, capable of crushing logs and lifting objects twice its weight. In cold weather, Pinsir becomes sluggish and will hide underground or in treetops. They enjoy tree sap and often compete with Heracross for it. Mega Pinsir gains wings and the ability to fly, becoming more aggressive. In the Alola region, Pinsir has a good relationship with Heracross but rivals Vikavolt. The size of Pinsir's pincers is considered a key factor in its attractiveness.
