Dratini (Japanese: ミニリュウ) is a Dragon-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It resembles a blue serpentine creature with a white underside, white, three-pronged fins on the sides of its head, and a white bump on its forehead, which is its growing horn. Dratini has oval, purple eyes. Dratini's life energy is constantly building, causing it to grow continuously, reaching lengths of over six feet (2 meters). As it grows, it regularly sheds its skin, hiding behind rapid waterfalls during the process to protect its soft new skin. This shed skin can be tanned and used to create luxury boots. Dratini was once considered a myth due to its rarity. It was initially discovered by a fisherman after a 10-hour battle. Dratini continually molts its skin to grow, preferring to live in fast-flowing waters like the pools at the bottom of waterfalls. Dratini evolves into Dragonair starting at level 30, and then into Dragonite at level 55.
