Quilava (Japanese: マグマラシ Magumarashi) is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It evolves from Cyndaquil starting at level 14 and evolves into Typhlosion starting at level 36. Quilava has a slender body, with a dark blue-green top half and a cream-colored underside. It has triangular ears with dark red interiors, a rounded snout, and triangular red eyes. It has five red spots on its body that can project flames: two arranged vertically on its forehead and three lined up horizontally on its rear. Quilava is known to be more cautious than Cyndaquil, and it often turns its back to its opponent before a battle to attack with its flames. Quilava uses intense flames and superheated air to battle and has flame-resistant fur that protects it from fire attacks. This Pokémon is also quite agile, allowing it to dodge attacks. It is often found in grasslands. In the Pokémon games, Quilava is a popular choice among trainers.
