Spinarak, known as Itomaru in Japanese, is a dual-type Bug/Poison Pokémon introduced in Generation II of the Pokémon series. It first appeared in the Pokémon Gold and Silver games. Spinarak resembles a green spider with black eyes, white pupils, a white horn on its forehead, and a pair of red mandibles. On its abdomen, there are two black dots and a line that forms a face-like pattern, which can change expressions. Spinarak is a nocturnal Pokémon that lives in temperate and tropical forests. It spins strong webs to trap prey, patiently waiting for its victims. It can sense the type of prey by the vibrations in its web, preferring to catch Cutiefly. Spinarak's poison is not very potent but is enough to weaken its prey. Its silk has been found to have properties that can be used for facial treatments and wound healing. Spinarak evolves into Ariados at level 22. Spinarak and Ariados are the only Pokémon that can learn the move Toxic Thread, and before Generation V, Spider Web was its signature move.
