Skiploom, known as Popokko (ポポッコ) in Japanese, is a dual-type Grass/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation II of the Pokémon series. It evolves from Hoppip starting at level 18 and evolves into Jumpluff starting at level 27. Skiploom has a spherical, green body with small arms, feet, and a tail. It has large, flat ears on the sides of its head and oval, red eyes. On top of its head is a yellow flower with a white center. Skiploom spreads its petals to absorb sunlight and floats in the air to get closer to the sun. Its flower blossoms when the temperature rises above 64°F (18°C), making it sometimes used as a thermometer. When it rains, Skiploom closes its flower and hides under the shade of a tree. In cold weather, it migrates to warmer regions for photosynthesis. Skiploom’s evolutionary line is based on the lifecycle of a dandelion, and its Japanese name is related to the Japanese name for dandelion.
