Sunflora (Japanese: キマワリ Kimawari) is a Grass-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It evolves from Sunkern when exposed to a Sun Stone. Sunflora has a sunflower-like design, with a green trunk and limbs, and a cream-colored head with yellow petals along the rim. Its eyes appear perpetually closed, and it has a vertical line beside each eye. Leaves extend like arms from its round body, and it has two toes on each foot. Sunflora converts sunlight into nutrition, hence it constantly seeks sunlight and moves hectically during the day, stopping completely and closing its petals at sunset. It also needs plenty of water. In the animated series, sunlight is shown to cause its head to grow, and excessive sunlight can immobilize it with an oversized head. Sunflora is rarely seen in the wild, but can be found in temperate grassy meadows. Its design is based on a sunflower and its association with the sun. The name Sunflora comes from the words "sunflower" and "flora."
