Wooper (Japanese: ウパー Upah) is a dual-type Water/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It resembles an upright, armless axolotl, primarily blue with a large head, small, round black eyes, and purple branching gills on either side of its head. Male Wooper have more gill branches than females. Wooper typically lives in cold water, partially burying itself in mud to sleep. In the evening, it seeks food along the shore. When on land, it secretes a slimy, toxic film to prevent dehydration and insulate against cold, causing pain upon barehanded contact. It is timid and stays close to Quagsire. In the Paldea region, Wooper has a dual-type Poison/Ground regional form, brown with bone-shaped gills and an eight-pronged pattern on its stomach. Paldean Wooper once lived in water but adapted to land, developing hardened gills and a poisonous film. It moves slowly, travels in groups, and collaborates with its evolved form, Clodsire, to cross water.
