Magcargo, known as Magukarugo in Japanese, is a dual-type Fire/Rock Pokémon. It evolves from Slugma starting at level 38. Magcargo resembles a large, red snail with a body primarily composed of magma and a hardened, black rock shell on its back. This shell is actually formed from cooled magma and is quite brittle, easily breaking upon contact. Magcargo's body temperature is extremely high, reaching 18,000°F (10,000°C), capable of vaporizing water on contact. It is typically found in volcanic areas, where flames will periodically spout from cracks in its shell. An increase in the wild Magcargo population is considered a sign of an impending volcanic eruption.
