Octillery, known as Okutan (オクタン) in Japanese, is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It evolves from Remoraid starting at level 25. Octillery resembles a combination of an octopus and a tank, with a red body, eight tentacles—two for manipulation and six for stability—a turret-like mouth, three yellow bumps on its head, and yellow suction cups on its tentacles. Female Octillery have smaller suction cups and head bumps. Octillery is a relaxed Pokémon that enjoys attention from its trainer. In the wild, it sprays ink to protect its young, which can dull predators' sense of smell. Despite being more docile when domesticated, wild Octillery can be stubborn. It prefers hiding in rocky holes and may steal another Octillery's nest when sleepy. Octillery grabs prey with its suction cups and delivers finishing blows with its hard head. Its ink is also used as a cooking ingredient. Octillery is proficient in many ranged attacks, such as ink, Flamethrower, Energy Ball, and Flash Cannon. Although Remoraid is a Water-type, Octillery is slower but has increased attack power after evolution. Octillery is the only Pokémon that learns Octazooka by leveling up, while others can learn it by breeding.
