Skarmory (Japanese: エアームド Airmd) is a dual-type Steel/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It resembles a large bird encased in metallic armor, with a long, metallic blue neck, legs, and tail. It has red feathers, yellow eyes, and a triangular crest on its head. Skarmory is known for its extremely durable body and sharp, blade-like wings, said to be able to cut through objects like swords. They nest in thorn bushes, which helps to harden their skin into iron-like armor. Skarmory are highly territorial and engage in fierce battles over land. They are incredibly fast, capable of flying at speeds close to 190 mph (300 km/h). Though their wings appear heavy, they are actually hollow, enabling them to fly freely. In some ancient regions, people used the shed feathers of Skarmory to make swords.
