Smeargle (Japanese: ドーブル Doble) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It is best known for its unique move, Sketch, which allows it to permanently copy the last move used by an opponent. This enables Smeargle to learn virtually any move (except for Chatter, Struggle, Tera Starstorm, Revival Blessing, and certain signature moves). Smeargle resembles a beagle, with white and brown fur, and a long tail that ends in a paintbrush-like tip. Its tail secretes paint, the color of which varies between individual Smeargle and changes hue with its emotions. It has a footprint on its back, which is the same color as its tail tip and is considered a sign of adulthood. Smeargle typically lives alone, but they maintain connections with comrades, sharing food source information and even painting on each other. They use the fluid from their tails to mark their territories by painting on trees and they can create over 5,000 different brush strokes. Smeargle does not evolve and is often found in urban areas with graffiti.
