Raikou (Japanese: ライコウ Raikou) is an Electric-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation II. It does not evolve into or from any other Pokémon. Along with Entei and Suicune, it is one of the Legendary beasts resurrected by Ho-Oh after the burning of the Brass Tower. Raikou is said to represent the lightning strike which ignited the fire that consumed the Brass Tower. Raikou is a quadrupedal, yellow, tiger-like Pokémon with black stripes, a white underside, and a light blue tail that ends in a spark shape. Its purple mane resembles storm clouds from which it can shoot bolts of lightning. Raikou is known for its incredible speed, and its roars are said to create shockwaves and shake the ground. While generally distrustful of humans, it may form bonds with those who help it. Raikou often appears during thunderstorms or when other Electric-type Pokémon are in danger. It is a powerful and elusive Pokémon that holds a significant place in Pokémon lore.
