Silcoon (Japanese: カラサリス, Karasalis) is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is one of the two evolved forms of Wurmple. Wurmple evolves into Silcoon at level 7, and it evolves into Beautifly at level 10. Silcoon resembles a white cocoon with spikes, anchoring itself to tree branches with silk. It obtains moisture from dew and barely moves, conserving energy while awaiting evolution. Silcoon's ability is Shed Skin. Its main battling move is Harden, increasing its defense. Silcoon appears in multiple regions in the Pokémon games, often obtained by evolving a Wurmple. The design is inspired by a silkworm cocoon, and its Japanese name "Karasalis" derives from "shell" and "chrysalis". It also appears in the anime, such as May's Wurmple evolving into a Silcoon.
