Shiftry, known as ダーテング (Daatengu) in Japanese, is a dual-type Grass/Dark Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is the final evolution of Seedot, evolving from Nuzleaf when exposed to a Leaf Stone. Shiftry is a bipedal Pokémon resembling a tengu, a Japanese mythological creature, with a long nose, flowing white mane, and leafy fans for hands. It is described as a wicked, mysterious, and rare Pokémon that lives atop ancient trees in deep forests. Legends say it can create powerful windstorms and read minds to anticipate opponents' attacks. Shiftry possesses abilities like Chlorophyll, Early Bird, and Pickpocket. It can learn a variety of Grass and Dark-type moves, as well as wind-based moves, reflecting its ability to control wind, though it isn't a Flying-type. According to folklore, Shiftry was once an evil bird Pokémon whose wings and beak were replaced as punishment for misdeeds.
