Slakoth (Japanese: ナマケロ Namakero) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is a brown, quadrupedal Pokémon with sloth-like qualities, featuring shaggy fur, dark stripes on its back, and a lazy demeanor. Slakoth is known for sleeping over 20 hours a day, only waking to eat a few leaves or adjust its position. It moves slowly, and its heart beats only once per minute. Slakoth's lethargic nature often makes those around it feel drowsy. It evolves into Vigoroth at level 18, which then evolves into Slaking at level 36. Slakoth's name is a portmanteau of 'slack' and 'sloth,' perfectly reflecting its characteristics. The location and moves of Slakoth vary across different games, but its slothful disposition remains constant. Its design is inspired by two-toed sloths and incorporates traits of human infants, such as sleeping most of the time and lying on its stomach. Overall, Slakoth is a Pokémon with a distinctive personality and recognition.
