Nincada, known as Tsuchinin in Japanese, is a Bug/Ground-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is a small, whitish insectoid Pokémon with a pointed snout, a thin V-shaped stripe between its eyes, and whisker-like antennae on its face. Nincada is virtually blind and relies on its antennae to sense its surroundings. It has small green wings on its back, white hind legs, and brown forelegs with sharp claws. Nincada lives underground in root systems, absorbing nutrients and moisture from tree roots. It avoids sunlight and spends almost its entire life in darkness. At level 20, Nincada evolves into Ninjask. If the Trainer has an empty Pokémon party slot and a regular Poké Ball when evolving, Nincada will also evolve a Shedinja. Nincada appears to be based on a cicada nymph, and its name and traits allude to ninjas.
