Tropius, also known as the Fruit Pokémon, is a dual-type Grass/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It resembles a sauropod dinosaur with a brown body and green leaves covering its chest and head. It has four broad green leaves on its back, which it uses for flight and for sugar production through photosynthesis. Despite its large size, Tropius is surprisingly maneuverable in the air. Its long neck allows it to reach the tops of trees to eat its favorite fruit. Due to its consistent diet of this particular fruit, the fruit began to grow around its neck. These yellow, banana-like fruits can be eaten by other Pokémon or humans and grow twice a year because of the rapid production of sugar in Tropius's leaves. In warm areas, there are ranches that raise Tropius. In the Alola region, the fruit on its neck is especially sweet compared to those in other regions. Tropius is known to be gentle and enjoys interacting with people, often sharing its fruit with children.
