Clamperl, known as パールル in Japanese, is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in the third generation of the Pokémon series. It resembles a blue bivalve with a pink pearl inside its shell. This pearl is said to amplify psychic powers and is more valuable than pearls produced by other Pokémon. Clamperl lives on the seafloor and uses its shell to clamp down on prey. When it is close to evolution, its body becomes too large to fit entirely inside its shell. Clamperl evolves into either Huntail or Gorebyss when traded while holding a Deep Sea Tooth or Deep Sea Scale, respectively. In Pokémon GO, it evolves randomly into either Huntail or Gorebyss when fed 50 candies. Clamperl has made several appearances in the anime and is also featured in the trading card game.
