Relicanth, known as Glanth in Japanese (ジーランス), is a dual-type Water/Rock Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It is based on the coelacanth, a prehistoric fish considered a living fossil. Relicanth has hard, brown scales, tan patches, and red spots on its body. Its head features protruding cheekbones and a triangular spike, with females having smaller cheekbones. Its physiology allows it to withstand the intense pressure of deep-sea environments. Relicanth is a filter feeder, consuming microscopic organisms with its toothless mouth. It has remained unchanged for 100 million years due to being considered a perfect life form. In the anime, it has appeared multiple times, even aiding characters in finding treasure. In games, Relicanth is a rare, non-evolving Pokémon found in deep-sea locations, and in Pokémon GO, it is a regional Pokémon found only in New Zealand and surrounding islands.
