Chimchar (Japanese: ヒコザル Hikozaru) is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in the fourth generation of the Pokémon franchise. It is a bipedal Pokémon that resembles a chimpanzee, primarily orange in color with light yellow face, outer ears, underbelly, hands, and feet. A distinctive feature is the flame on its rear, fueled by gas in its stomach. This flame cannot be extinguished by rain, but it weakens or goes out when Chimchar sleeps or is ill. Chimchar is very agile, capable of scaling cliffs and rocky mountains. It evolves into Monferno at level 14, then into Infernape at level 36. It's one of the starter Pokémon of the Sinnoh region in the games and features in the anime, manga, and various Pokémon spin-offs, including Pokémon GO where it is a catchable Pokémon with different moves.
