Staraptor is a dual-type Normal/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It is the final evolution of Starly, evolving from Staravia starting at level 34. Staraptor resembles a large bird of prey, with grayish-brown feathers, red eyes, and a black-tipped yellow beak. It has a black crest on its head with a red tip, and the male's crest is larger than the female's. It has white markings on its throat and chest, with a black ruff around its shoulders. Its strong wing and leg muscles allow it to effortlessly carry other Pokémon while flying. Upon evolution, Staraptor leaves its flock to live alone. It is highly aggressive and will persistently attack enemies, even when injured. Staraptor is fussy about the shape of its crest and uses it to intimidate foes. In the anime, Ash's Staravia evolves into Staraptor and accompanies him through the Sinnoh region.
