Gastrodon, known as トリトドン in Japanese, is a dual-type Water/Ground Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It evolves from Shellos starting at level 30. Gastrodon has two forms: West Sea Gastrodon and East Sea Gastrodon. The West Sea form is pink and brown, while the East Sea form is blue and green, but these forms have no differences in stats. Gastrodon is based on a sea slug and has high regenerative capabilities, able to regrow body parts in a few hours. When threatened, it secretes a purple, sticky, bitter fluid to escape. It lives in shallow tidal pools, beaches and rocky shorelines and feeds on plankton, occasionally going onto land to look for food. Gastrodon is known to have conflicts with different forms in the wild. Its body is soft and bone-less, allowing it to squeeze into tight spaces, while maintaining high defenses despite being slow. It is a favorite among Pokémon collectors in the video game series.
